Guest Speaker

Our guest speaker at the Saturday morning men’s Bible study on April 12, 2014 will be Ron Ericson (pictured at left).  He was a long time leader of the ministry to men at the Hope Women's Centers, formerly Hope Pregnancy Centers (link to supporter/volunteer website).  He will speak to us about the men's ministry of Hope Women's Centers.  There is alway a man involved in a crisis pregnancy.

CRCC Saturday Men's Bible Study

Who:  Men.  Teenage and older are welcome.  You do not have to be a member of CRCC in order to attend.  No preregistration is required.  Just show up on Saturday morning.
When:  Every Saturday morning, 8:00 am to 10:00 am
What:  Bible study, focusing on the reading from THE ONE YEAR BIBLE.
Where:  Christ the Rock Community Church (East side of main building) at 11000 Stirling Road, Cooper City, FL 33328

Discussion Questions:
Old Testament

  • The inhabitants of Gibeon tricked Joshua into making a treaty with them. Why did Joshua honor the treaty once he learned it was a trick?
  • During the battle with the Amorites, God made the Sun and the Moon stand still. What was the point of this occurrence; and are we to take this story literally? (i.e. did the Sun and Moon actually stop moving, or is this just a figure of speech?)

New Testament

  • The rich man who went to Hades wanted to warn his brothers about this place
    of torment. Why was his request denied?

Discussion Questions:
Old Testament

  1. Deuteronomy 23:19-20 prohibits charging interest (usury) on loans to other Israelites (brothers), but permits it as to strangers (foreigners). What is the reason for this rule; and should we extend this rule to prohibit charging interest on a loan to a Christian brother?
  2. Deuteronomy 24:1-4 sets out rules for divorce. Should we consider these rules to mean that God approves of divorce? Could a man divorce his wife for any trivial reason (or no reason at all)?

New Testament

  1. Why did Jesus tell a potential follower to not take time to even bury his father? Luke 9:59-60.
  2. Does Luke 12:29 mean we not should care at all about what we eat or our other physical needs, because God will take care of everything?
