Read the whole Bible in one year Week 44, November 5, 2011: “Visions” This week's Reading: Oct. 29 to Nov. 4 Old Testament: Lamentations 1:1 to Ezekiel 11:25 New Testament: Philemon 1:1 to Hebrews 6:20 Psalms: Psalm 101:1 to 105:36 Proverbs: Proverbs 26:20 to 27:2 Ezekiel had “visions of God.” Were these just dreams? Was there anything unusual about these visions? Ezekiel 1:1-3 (RSV) [1] In the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, on the fifth day of the month, as I was among the exiles by the river Chebar, the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God. [2] On the fifth day of the month (it was the fifth year of the exile of King Jehoi'achin), [3] the word of the LORD came to Ezekiel the priest, the son of Buzi, in the land of the Chalde'ans by the river Chebar; and the hand of the LORD was upon him there. Is Jesus a High Priest? Hebrews 4:14 (RSV) [14] Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. Why were the Hebrew Christians referred to as infants? Hebrews 5:12-13 (RSV) [12] For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need some one to teach you again the first principles of God's word. You need milk, not solid food; [13] for every one who lives on milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a child. [Beginning in January 2012: The Mens Breakfast group, will work toward becoming more like Christ, through study of this classic book by Thomas à Kempis.]
