Jonah 1:15-17 (RSV) – [15] So they took up Jonah and threw him into the sea; and the sea ceased from its raging. [16] Then the men feared the LORD exceedingly, and they offered a sacrifice to the LORD and made vows. [17] And the LORD appointed a great fish to swallow up Jonah; and Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights. New Testament What is the “tree of life” referred to in Revelation 2-7? Is it the SAME tree referred to in Genesis 2:9? Genesis 2:9 (RSV) – And out of the ground the LORD God made to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food, the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Revelation 2:7 (RSV) – He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who conquers I will grant to eat of the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.' What is the New Jerusalem? Revelation 3:12 (RSV) – He who conquers, I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God; never shall he go out of it, and I will write on him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem which comes down from my God out of heaven, and my own new name. Revelation 21:1-4 (RSV)1 – [1] Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. [2] And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband; [3] and I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Behold, the dwelling of God is with men. He will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself will be with them; [4] he will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning nor crying nor pain any more, for the former things have passed away."
