Discussion Questions:
Old Testament

  1. What was the offense committed by Moses which resulted in God banning him from leading the people into the promised land? Why did God consider Moses’ actions so serious? Numbers 20:1-12.
  2. In Numbers 21:6 the people again complained to Moses. Why did they keep complaining, notwithstanding all Moses (and God) had done for them? Was God’s punishment (the poisonous snakes) too harsh?

New Testament

  1. Jesus tells his disciples what signs to expect. Are we to expect to see these same signs today? Mark 16:14-18.
  2. What do we know about John the Baptist? How was his message and ministry different than that of Jesus? Read John 3:1-18

Discussion Questions:

Old Testament

  • God specified the Passover meal be eaten in one house (the food could not be carried outside), and that no bone of the passover lamb could be broken. Is there any significance to these instructions? Exodus 12:46.
  • What is a “hardened heart?” And why did Pharaoh have one? Exodus 14:1-4.
  • Why does God single out the seven sins named in Proverbs 6:16-19?

New Testament

  • Is it “fair” for the man who worked a full day to receive only a day’s wage,
    when that’s the same pay received by the worker who worked only a short
    time at the very end of the day? Matthew 20:1-16. How does this story relate
    to the kingdom of heaven?
  • Matthew 22:23-32 contains the Sadducees’ question about widow who marries the seven brothers who die in succession. What is the significance of this story?

Old Testament

  1. (Exodus 6:29-30) God assured Moses He would give him the words to say.
  2. (Exodus 7:3) Why did God permit Pharaoh’s stubbornness and obstinacy to
    remain? Did God harden Pharaoh’s heart? Why?
  3. (Exodus 7:4-5) How is God’s name exalted both in those that are saved and in
    those that perish. What methods does God use in doing this?
  4. (Exodus 7:7) Is it fair to say that God uses senior citizens?
  5. (Exodus 7:11) How were the magicians able to copy the miracle provided by
    God? Was there any difference between the magicians’ tricks and God’s

  1. How are we to deal with another Christian who has sinned against us?
