Old Testament
- Why isn’t Reuben’s sin with Bilhah (Genesis 35:22), dealt with more directly, rather many years later (Genesis 49:4).
- Both Jacob and his wife, Rachel, engaged in deceit when they flet Laban. Genesis 31:17-24. How does deception revisit the family later, and what are we to make of it? See Genesis 34:13-31, Genesis 37:12-36, and Genesis 38:12-30.
- In the story of Judah and Tamar, why was the punishment for the daughter-in-law’s sin to be death (Genesis 38:24), but there was no punishment for the same sin, committed by Judah? Genesis 38.
- Why didn’t Joseph tell Potiphar what happened in the incident with Potiphar’s wife, so as to avoid being thrown in prison? Genesis 39:7-20.
