Old Testament

  1. Jehoash attempted to follow God. Why did he permit worship in “high places,” in violation of God’s law? 2 Kings 12:2-3.
  2. Why was God angry enough to allow the Assyrians to conquer Israel? Do you see any parallels between the behavior in 2 Kings 17, and our modern society?

New Testament

  1. Why did Paul wait so long to drive the spirt of divination out of the slave girl? Acts 16:16-18.
  2. How was John’s Baptism different than Jesus’ baptism. Is either form interchangable and acceptable? Acts 19:1-7

Old Testament

  1. Why was it a sin for David to take the census?
  2. 1 Kings 4:26 says, “Solomon had forty thousand stalls of horses for his chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen.” Is this the correct number of horses, and was Solomon breaking the prohibition on the king “multiplying horses” found in Deuteronomy 17:16?

New Testament

  1. Ananias, and his wife, Sapphira, both dropped dead when confronted with the fact that they held back part of the profit from the sale of their property. Why was their punishment so severe? Acts 5:1-11.
  2. What was the argument set out by the Pharisee named Gamaliel in Acts 5:38-39 as to why the religious leaders should leave Peter and the apostles alone?

  • Why didn’t David punish Amnon for raping Tamar?

New Testament

  1. Did Pilate want to crucify Jesus? Why did he finally agree to do so?
  2. Pilate wrote the title to be placed on the cross, “JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS.” The chief priests of the Jews told Pilate, the title should actually read “he said, I am King of the Jews.” John 19:19-21. Which title was more accurate?
