“Generations of Taste” at Old Davie School

The Davie Historical Society will host the 12th Annual Generations of Taste from 6-8 p.m., on 03/20/2010, at the Old Davie School Historical Museum located at 6650 Griffin Road. This scrumptious tradition is a sampling of recipes from the Society’s four cookbooks and includes tastings of traditional Davie Pioneer dishes.

Survey Results: What annoys you the most?

I would have thought that cursing offended a lot of people. It is banned on TV and in polite conversations. As it turns out, people in this survey are almost 7 times more offended by "Air quotes," and 8 times more offended by Democrats than they are by cursing. Read for yourself...

Preliminary survey results are in for the question, “Which of the following personally annoys or offends you the most?”1 Results calculated through 03/15/2010.2

  1. Democrats. (54%)
  2. “Air quotes.” (47%)
  3. Microsoft Windows (33%)
  4. Inappropriate or “dark” themes in movies or TV programs. (27%)
  5. Pictures of dogs playing poker or shooting pool. (27%)
  6. People who use the term “extremely unique.” (27%)
  7. Cats. (27%)
  8. A really bad “fashion faux pas” (20%)
  9. A member of your family. (20%)
  10. Cursing. (7%,)
  11. People talking on cell phones in church or in restaurants. (7%)
  12. People who talk in the movie theatre. (7%)
