Happy New Year

I hope that everyone is off to a great 2011. Best wishes for your experiences in reading the Bible in the next year. Over two dozen people are reading through the Bible as part of our group. I have distributed Bibles to almost all of you. If you need a One Year Bible, and haven’t received one yet, please call me. We have a few more copies on order, which should get here this week. The price is still the same. Free.

Genesis is one of the the most action-packed, exciting books ever written. You may be tempted to read ahead. My advice: stick with the readings contained in the One Year Bible. If you have not been a daily Bible reader, I also encourage you to keep up with the daily readings by reading the indicated verses every day, at the same time of day. In other words, make Bible reading a part of your daily routine, so that it becomes a habit. First thing in the morning works best for me–plus it has the added benefit of helping me to get off to a great start, before I get caught up with all the other things that clutter my mind during the day.

Tom Truex’ One Year Bible Challenge

What if you could read the most important, most influencial, best selling book in the history of the world? What if reading this book was guarantied to change you life?  AND what if you could read that book in only 15 minutes???  You can!  The Book, of course, is the Bible, and we do mean 15 minutes each day for a year.  But wait, there’s more!

Everyone should read the entire Bible. Everyone can read the entire Bible.  Please consider joining me, my entire family, and quite a few of our friends as we take the One Year Bible Challenge: To read through the entire Bible in one year, beginning on January 1, 2011! This challenge is to YOU, no matter what your background or faith—if you are a regular churchgoer, or not; if you are a Bible expert or Bible neophyte; if you are Protestant, Catholic, or non-demoninational.  Even if you are not a Christian.

Just Like Mary and Joseph…

Did you ever think that each of us has a role to play in Christmas? Please consider the following point, sent to me in a email by Rev. Darrell Stuehrenberg, and reprinted here, with his permission.

We’re almost there, only six more days till Christmas!!….Today, Sunday, Dec. 19, is the Fourth Sunday in Advent. The appointed lessons for each of the four Sundays leading up to Christmas help us GET READY for the main event. Today’s Gospel lesson, Matthew 1:18-25, is Matthew’s amazing account of how God was going to use Joseph in sharing Jesus with the world.

Just like Mary and Joseph… each of us has a role to play. As you prepare for Christmas, stop and think…. WHAT IS YOUR ROLE?? As the Lord is explaining Joseph’s role to him, in Matthew 1:18-25, how would Lord explain your role to…. YOU??.

This is exactly what the season of Advent is all about… to prepare each of us to understand our roles… in sharing Jesus Christ with the world.

Today at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Ft. Myers, the Tiny Tots helped worshipers understand their roles. The Tiny Tots children assisted in this Sunday morning’s worship to “Show and Tell” the wonderful story of Jesus’ birth.

It was exciting to hear this amazing story told…. through the eyes and voices of children!!

But wherever you are…I pray that worship this Sunday, Dec. 19th assisted in your preparation for Christmas!! Just like Mary and Joseph…you’ve got a role to play…this Christmas…LET’S GET READY!!

This e-mail devotion is written by Rev. Darrell Stuehrenberg, Interim Pastor at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 14531 Old Olga Rd., Ft. Myers, FL. Their Sunday morning worship is at 9am. If you are in the Ft. Myers area, or know someone in the Ft. Myers area who has no church home…. please come (or invite them to come) and worship.1
